Let us introduce ourselves

A few words about us

Beroya Foundation is a Christian Program which is a flagship project of Beroya Church Nairobi Githurai 45 (City of Refuge) The Word Beroya is the Swahili translation of the city of Berea as found in the book of Acts 17:10-11 ( As soon as it was night, the believers sent Paul and Silas away to Berea. On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue. Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.)

The foundation targets the social economic aspects of the members of the church and to the extension of the community.

How it all came to be…

The area is inhabited mostly by below low income people and also plagued by most of the social ills which include drug abuse, crime, prostitutions and illicit drugs. This has led to many single families, orphans, disabled, child labor, poor families, drug addicts and criminals.

As the church is focused on addressing this people and preaching the gospel to these people, when some of them get saved and have to abandon some of their income generating activities such as crime, drug and illicit brew peddling there is need to find them an alternate source of income. This is where the social economic aspects need to be addressed by the foundation.

On the other hand most other people are poor and live below the poverty line{most live below a dollar a day} and cannot afford to meet their basic needs. Some are homeless, others cannot afford food at times and most of the children are not in school.
